Upon clinical examination, the patient was found to have a Class IV dental caries on tooth number 12.
To restore her smile, a cosmetic restoration was recommended. The treatment procedure involved four key steps:
- Step 1: Preparation: The affected area was prepared by carefully removing the existing dental caries to ensure a clean surface for the restoration.
- Step 2: Shade Selection: The ideal composite resin shade was meticulously selected using a shade guide to perfectly match the patient's surrounding teeth.
- Step 3: Restoration: A light-cured composite resin was expertly applied to build up and restore the natural structure of the tooth.
- Step 4: Finishing: The final restoration was trimmed and polished to achieve a smooth, natural-looking finish that seamlessly blended with the patient's other teeth.
Post-operative Care
To ensure the longevity and success of the aesthetic filling, the patient was advised to follow these post-operative care instructions:
Diet: For the next 24-48 hours, avoid consuming colored foods and aerated drinks that could potentially stain the new restoration.
Biting: Refrain from biting directly or forcefully with the upper front teeth to prevent damage to the new filling.
