Secondary Decay: The old silver fillings were no longer sealed perfectly. This "marginal shrinkage" created tiny gaps where bacteria could thrive, leading to new decay and increased sensitivity.

The Solution: A Comprehensive Treatment Plan

Based on our findings, we developed a personalized treatment plan to address her concerns and restore both the health and aesthetics of her smile. The patient was advised to undergo the following procedures:

Professional Deep Cleaning: A thorough scaling and polishing was performed to remove the tough coffee stains and other built-up plaque. This process included a specialized stain removal solution to reveal the natural brightness of her teeth.
Cosmetic Fillings: To address the failing silver restorations and resolve her sensitivity, we recommended replacing the old amalgam fillings with cosmetic composite resin fillings.
